 The Center for Women in Transition’s mission is to create and sustain an environment that enhances the voice, opportunities and strength of women and girls in Allegan and Ottawa Countie

       Our Philosophy

We believe an important part of our community’s strength lies in the recognition of our interdependence. This interdependence creates a shared accountability among individuals, families, schools, businesses, and community organizations to facilitate responsible decision-making, and to hold individuals accountable for their actions. We believe that the women and girls in our community can and will make the most responsible decisions for their lives when they:

• Are treated with dignity and valued as unique individuals
• Their diversity is respected
• Live in a healthy, secure environment, free from the threat of violence
• Are provided educational opportunities which promote a healthy lifestyle and build a healthy sense of self.
• Have access to the information and resources necessary to make and act upon their decisions Believe in themselves and recognize their value as an integral part of society We believe that the most effective results for today’s women and future generations are achieved when our services are both reactive and proactive.
